They alone have the power to make us more likely to fall ill, complicate social interactions, and reduce our concentration. In short, a real winning combination! More seriously, smelling bad can seriously handicap us in our daily lives.
A regular deodorant is not enough in this situation. Fortunately, there are deodorants specially designed for strong odors.
Find out how to choose the right one, to always be sure you smell good!
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR DEODORANT TO FIGHT STRONG ODORS?
The perfect product for you is not necessarily the same as for others.
Several very personal criteria influence your choice of deodorant against bad odors:
1. the amount of sweat produced,
2. the odor and its intensity,
3.application comfort preferences,
4. the deodorant’s aesthetics,
5. the price.
To properly take other criteria into account, the first step is to assess your situation.
Note your level of perspiration, ranging from very low to very high. Do the same for the intensity of odors.
You can choose from the following formats: spray, stick, roll-on, atomizer, solid, etc.
To find out which suits you best, the best solution is to test them.
The last two criteria are very personal, so we’ll let you handle those yourself.
Once this assessment is completed, you can start searching for your dream deodorant against strong odors!

WHAT ARE THE 3 TYPES OF DEODORANTS?
1- Deodorants against bad odors:
These deodorants are not intended to tackle perspiration.Their role is to mask bad odors thanks to the presence of ingredients designed to temporarily perfume your pair and the surrounding air. They also serve to treat the formation of bad odors, through the presence of antibacterial agents. Very interesting when you know that strong odors are caused by the fermentation of bacteria on the surface of the skin!

2- So-called antiperspirant deodorants:
These deodorants, which help limit the production of perspiration, are recommended in cases of excessive sweating.
How? Thanks to their mode of action, which temporarily interrupts the production of sweat generated by the sweat gland. They contain aluminum chloride hexahydrate in an alcoholic solution.By forming a keratin plug, antiperspirants prevent the production of sweat by the sweat gland. This effect generally lasts from 2 to 3 days. Therefore, they should be applied 2 to 3 times a week.
By combining its use with a deodorant against unpleasant odors without antiperspirant action, you put everything in place to smell good and say goodbye to sticky clothes. To ensure optimal effectiveness and avoid thermoregulation problems, apply an antiperspirant deodorant only to the areas where the most sweat comes out, without covering more than one-tenth of your total skin surface. Ideally, apply your deodorant in the evening before going to bed, on clean and dry skin.
3- So-called antiperspirant deodorants:
No deodorant is truly antiperspirant.
In reality, this term refers to products that limit sweat production for a few hours.
How do they achieve this? : Thanks to the deposition of aluminum salts on the sweat glands. The advantage of these products is that they are easily removed in the shower or naturally disappear after about half a day. If your daily perspiration bothers you without being excessive, the combination of an antiperspirant deodorant with a deodorant that does not act against sweat is ideal for getting rid of strong odors.
How to limit strong odors? : The consumption of certain foods promotes the appearance of sweat, and therefore bad odors. The following drinks and foods tend to promote sweating:
- coffee,
- alcohol,
- spices,
- chili pepper,
- processed foods,
- excessive sugar consumption,
- very hot or very cold drinks,
- tea in large quantities, as it contains a little caffeine.
Also beware of garlic and onion . These foods have an unfortunate tendency to give a strong odor to perspiration. Consider wearing suitable clothing to reduce sweating.
Pro tip: to stay professional and stylish while enjoying comfort and feeling that your body is well ventilated, tennis or golf polos are perfect!
Of course, a healthy lifestyle is still the best "deodorant" against excessive sweating and strong odors.
Should you consult your doctor in case of bad odors? : We rarely think about it, but doctors can certainly be consulted for strong recurring odors. This problem should not be taken lightly, as it can be detrimental in many aspects of daily life, especially when it is caused by excessive sweating. If it has been concerning you for several weeks or even months, this is the perfect opportunity to make an appointment with your general practitioner! No matter the outcome, you have nothing to lose. When in doubt, it is always better to consult a healthcare professional. So, what are you waiting for to smell better than all your colleagues?
